RiverRoad implemented a national recycling program to meet corporate sustainability goals.
Since 2005, RiverRoad has worked with a national big box retailer to improve waste management and recycling programs at approximately 1,000 locations.
In a decentralized purchasing environment, getting a true handle on overall waste and recycling costs is challenging, as is leveraging corporate spend and the enterprise footprint to obtain competitive pricing. As a result, costs continued to rise and service levels continued to deteriorate. Additionally, decentralized management made it very difficult to implement a corporate recycling program.
RiverRoad waste professionals worked with the retail client to centralize all waste management. Our team established a new national service provider network under central management, identified service benchmarks and rightsized services across the entire enterprise. A national recycling program was implemented to assist the retailer in meeting corporate sustainability goals.
The retailer has achieved a consistent savings of approximately 12% annually since the program’s inception in 2005.
